Setting up Two-Step Verification protects your Google Account even if someone steals your Password. This process requires a second form of identification when you sign in.
Open your Google Account and click on the Security tab.
Locate the section titled How you sign in to Google.
Click on 2-Step Verification and select Get started.
Enter your Password or use a Passkey to verify your identity.
Add a Phone Number to receive codes via text or voice call.
Type the Six Digit Code Google sends to your phone to verify the number.
Click Turn On to activate the feature.
You should add at least one backup method to avoid getting locked out of your account.
Google Prompts: You receive a push notification on your phone. You just tap Yes to sign in.
Authenticator App: Use the Google Authenticator app to generate codes offline.
Backup Codes: Download or print a list of Eight Digit Codes. These work when you do not have your phone.
Security Key: Use a physical USB or NFC key for the highest level of protection.
